Intended Use of Artwork
Winning entries will be utilized as specialized visual assets for the season:
Official Festival Posters: For promotional uses and wide distribution.
Limited Edition Collectibles: A limited run of 50 Posters (to be signed by artist) featuring high-quality printing with specialized layers (Glossy, Matte, and Metallic etc) to be sold, raffled off, and used as prizes during Painter's Palate 2026.
Beer Collab Series: Your artwork will serve as the base design for the can art for 1 of 4 of our limited-edition beer series produced in collaboration with four BC breweries.
Contest Structure & Legal
Submission Deadline: All entries must be received by May 31st, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST. After which the submission portal will be closed.
Technical Specifications: * Initial Submission: Files must be uploaded in PNG or PDF format with a minimum resolution of 1500px on the longest side for judging purposes.
Final Deliverables: Winners must provide production-ready files. Digital art must be at least 300 DPI at the final print size of 18" x 24" (approx. 5400 x 7200 pixels). Layered PSD or Vector (AI/EPS) files are required.
Hand-Done Artwork: For hand-done artwork, we will need a high-resolution scan and/or the original artwork to adapt for official printing and use.
Judging Criteria: This is a contest of both skill and creativity. Entries will be evaluated by the Palate Events LTD organizing team based on the following:
Thematic representation and conceptual execution.
Originality and diversity of artistic style.
Creative inspiration and adherence to the provided brief.
Ownership: Upon acceptance of the prize, the Artist hereby irrevocably assigns and transfers all right, title, and interest in and to the artwork—including all copyrights and intellectual property rights—to Palate Events LTD in perpetuity.
Adaptation: Palate Events LTD reserves the unrestricted right to modify, adapt, and create derivative works from the submission for production and marketing purposes (including, but not limited to, beer labels and festival branding) without further artist approval or additional compensation.
Strict No AI Policy: The use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in the creation of the artwork is strictly prohibited.
Verification & Timeline: Potential winners will be notified via email. Upon notification, artists have seven (7) business days to provide verifiable proof of authorship (original source files, sketches, or process scans) and the final high-resolution files. Failure to meet this deadline or provide required file types will result in disqualification.
Official Announcement: Winners will be announced by June 15th, 2026.
Privacy: Contact information is collected for the sole administrative use of Palate Events LTD and will not be distributed or sold to third parties.

Who is selecting the winners?
The selection will be made by the organizer team of Palate Events LTD in partnership with the Oceanside Arts Council.
Is this only for Vancouver Island residents?
No. The contest is open to artists everywhere, provided the work reflects the themes of the region.
Can I submit more than one design?
Yes, artists are welcome to submit multiple entries.
What happens if I can’t provide the high-res files?
A high-resolution, print-ready file is a requirement for winning. If a selected artist cannot provide the necessary files or proof of development, the submission will be ineligible.
